The Blue Relay
A healthy ocean is fundamental to all life on Earth.

The Blue Relay has been created to help to give the ocean a voice on the critical issues affecting our planet.
Nature’s Baton, the symbol of The Blue Relay, is passed between teams during The Ocean Race and travels to landmark events where decisions are made about the environment.
In the hands of world leaders, sailors and other ocean advocates, Nature’s Baton is used to call on decision-makers to radically increase their ambitions to protect and restore the ocean.
Originally known as Relay4Nature, the name evolved to reflect the blue thread that connects the major threats to the natural world and to ensure that our vital, life-giving ocean is not forgotten.
The initiative was created by The Ocean Race and UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, Peter Thomson.
